We host a weekly Community Cafe. This is a completely free cafe taking place every Wednesday between 12pm and 2pm.

Sunday 1 December: Advent Reflection, 6pm - Marking the waiting time for Christmas with words and music.

Wednesday 11 December: For the Darkness of waiting: a Quiet Evening for Advent, 6.30-9pm - Arrive for a simple support from 6.30pm, then from 7pm we'll keep silence, with some ideas to reflect on and activities to try, using our beautiful, quiet church. Friday 13 December: Winter Songs - seasonal folk music and supper, 7-10.30pm - Join us as we welcome Poppy Choir and Carrington Triangle Folk Club for a night of folk music and a hot supper in the stunning surroundings of St John’s church. Sunday 15 December: Rainbow Carols and Lovefeast, 6pm - Join Open Table, the LGBTQ+ community who meet monthly at St John’s, for an evening of Christmas carols with a traditional Moravian-inspired Lovefeast. Everyone who wants to be part of this very special inclusive and accepting space is welcome.

Friday 20 December: Blue Christmas, 6pm - Join us on the longest night at a special, gentle service for anyone who might find Christmas difficult this year. Perhaps you’ve lost a loved one, are facing illness or troubles in your family life, or just know you’ll find it hard to join the celebrations. We see you. Come and make some space to own your truth, and maybe take away a little bit of comfort and hope.

Sunday 22 December: Christmas Carols, 6pm - Our traditional carol service for all the family, followed by mince pies and hot chocolate.

Tuesday 24 December: Christingles round the crib, 2pm - A service for younger ones and their parents and carers – come along and make your Christingle, sing songs and hear the story of Jesus and the animals. Dressing up very much encouraged!

Tuesday 24 December: Eucharist of Christmas Eve, 11.30pm - Our first Christmas celebration returns to its traditional ‘midnight’ lot as we celebrate the Word made flesh, dwelling amongst us.

Wednesday 25 December: Eucharist of Christmas Day, 10am - Our celebrations continue with our Eucharist for Christmas morning.
