Advent Fair
A huge thanks to Cynthia for all her planning and all who helped make the Advent Fair such a success. It was a wonderful occasion of fellowship and fun and a great start to the season.

We now have CCTV operating within the foyer of the church. This is a security
deterrent and information will be deleted after 30 days. A big thank you to Peter Artis for all the work in sorting this.

Beer and Carols 18th December 7.30pm.
As part of our Christmas festivities we will be having a Beer  and Carols evening in the  Gladstone. This will be fun evening with singing, mince pies and beer (non alcoholic drinks available!). Do come along.

Safeguarding Officer
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Jenelle Clarke as the church’s new Safeguarding Officer. Jenelle will bring a wide range of highly relevant experience to the role. This is a hugely important ministry and we are grateful that she has taken it on.

Baby & Toddlers Group
As many of you will know St John’s hosts a toddler group on a Thursday morning. This has run for nearly 40 years. It is a great opportunity to reach out and to show love and care for families in our community.

For the last year Susi has been running this singlehanded and this is not sustainable. If we are to continue this valuable work, we need folk to volunteer to help. This could be making tea and coffee, preparing fruit for the children’s snacks, setting up the toys and tidying away or washing up. It need not be every week – it could be once a month. Please consider prayerfully whether god is calling you to serve him in this way.  If we want to grow as a church we have to reach out into our community and show the love of Jesus. Thank you to those who have already come forward – more are needed and welcome!

There was a positive response in church  to the approval by the PCC to ask Standing Committee to begin the process of sourcing new chairs for the church. This has been in the pipeline for some time. The current chairs are starting to be a health and safety issue with breakages. They are also very heavy to move and as such are limiting additional things we can do both as a church and as a community space. There is a lot of history in our current seating and many have sat on them to pray over the years: we are not disregarding that legacy, rather building on it as we continue to grow as God’s people and Church in Carrington. The Standing Committee will investigate some high quality options as well as avenues for funding and any new chairs will be aesthetically pleasing!

Children in Gambia.
We sponsor four children in Gambia: the head teacher phoned to thank the church for its donation which pays their school fee for tne next year as well as supply the four them with a new school uniform. Any remaining money will be used for books etc.
