Denis Tully – Chief Executive at Emmanuel House writes:
My sincere thanks to everyone at St John's for their harvest donations to Emmanuel House. They are greatly appreciated. You may be aware that homelessness in Nottingham has increased 400% in two years so the services of Emmanuel House are in demand. If you are interested in our work or would like to support us with our Christmas 'Gift of Hope' appeal please see www.emmanuelhouse.org.uk .
The framework hotline number is 0800 066 5356 if you are worried about anyone who is rough sleeping
The Church Council is considering CCTV in the building following a break in to the Church office and some petty thefts. We are planning cameras at the front entrance and the side door. Our prime intention is to deterrence and so keep the building safe for users and our staff. Recordings would be stored on a separate device and deleted after 30 days or less. We hope you will agree this would add to the security of the building. If you have any questions or concerns please let Peter Artis the parish treasurer know.
New Church of England website goes live
Posada. On Advent Sunday the Posada family – Mary, Joseph and the donkey – will be starting their journey around the parish and beyond. If you would like them to visit you, please sign up on the list at the back of church or speak to Phil, Sheelagh or Mandy. Also talk to them if you would like to know more about the Posada. Last year many people said they felt privileged and blessed to host the figures – we hope they will bring joy to us all this year.
Safeguarding Policies We are in the process of rewriting and updating our Safeguarding Policies. Please contact Cynthia if you can help with this or want further information. There is a clear format to follow and Dorothy will head up a small group.
