St John's Church and Community Centre is situated in the north east corner of the churchyard. This Churchyard is surrounded on three sides by stone walls surmounted by iron railings. Its eastern boundary is formed by Mansfield Road with Church Drive to the south, Loscoe Road to the west and a children's playground (Pirates Park) to the north. The churchyard covers some 7294 square yards. The small part between the church and Church Drive is crowded but the main area now has tasteful groups of memorial stones moved together from other parts of the churchyard. Within the churchyard are Eleven War Commission Graves erected for men who served in the First World War. Burials in the church yard ceased many years ago.
There are three entrances to the churchyard, the north side of the church and community centre on Mansfield Road, Church Drive ( 3 steps) and Loscoe Road. It is recomended that wheelchair uses use the entrance on Mansfield Road. Here the path is tarmaced and level to the new entrance to the building at the west end.
