Our aims have always focused on our strong sense of service to the local community.

Thanks to the generosity of a parishioner Elizabeth Lennon in 1893 the parish hall was built on Watcombe Circus and this provided facilities for the use of the people of Carrington for 116 years. However these facilities became outdated and failed to meet the requirements of the 21 st century.

In 2008 through the generosity of two other parishioners Mary Dunnicliffe and Elsie Ellingworth, St John's embarked on an ambitious redevelopment of the church building which enabled the construction of new community facilities within the north aisle. The building was closed for almost a year with all services and activities transfered to the Hall. The Church & Community Centre opened in August 2009.

New Facilities include:

New main entrance and foyer providing access to both the church & community facilities.
One large hall with commercial standard kitchen on a newly-created first floor.
Meeting rooms on ground floor, with access to kitchenette/café area
Better disabled access and toilets and a lift for access to the new first floor.
Parish Office.
Completely new liturgical space in the nave that can also be used for concerts and events
